Poker Superstar Gus Hansen was sitting with a sizable chip lead has he was heads up against professional David Chiu at the final table of the WPT World Championship in Las Vegas. Hansen, who reached his 7th WPT Final Table and was looking for his 4th WPT Title, was sitting with just under 23 million chips and Chiu with just over 4 million when the two collided. Chiu was able to double up on the Great Dane of Poker and after 50 hands had taken the chip lead. Hansen got all of his chips in with two pair while Chiu was holding a pair of aces and a flush draw with the river pending. On the river came the ace to give Chiu trip aces and the WPT World Title and just under $3.4 million dollars for his victory. Hansen banked $1.7 million dollars with his second place finish.
Don Cheadle’s Ante up for Africa Celebrity Poker Tournament will return in for it’s second annual charity event this summer. Once again the World Series of Poker will host the Texas Holdem affair and it’s scheduled for Wednesday July 2nd at the Rio Suites Hotel in Las Vegas. Last year’s tournament featured dozens of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities including Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Charles Barkely, and Ray Romano.
