Cole Hamels is coming off 2 really good starts giving up no runs and 8 hits in 16 innings of work. He struck out 11 Nationals in his last start. The lefty is second in the National League in strikeouts with 65 on the year. Hamels in his last 4 starts versus Houston is 3-0 with an ERA of 3.14 and 30 K’s in 28 innings pitched. Chris Sampson has been inconsistent this season. He come in with a quality start and then gets shelled in his next mound appearance. If that pattern continues then a bad start is up next for Sampson. Sampson sits with an ERA of 5.91 and opposing batters are hitting .326 against him. I have to back the Phillies behind their ace as Sampson is hittable and doesn’t get the strike out. Take Philadelphia –125.
